Opening its doors in 1854, McSorley's is New York City's oldest continuously operating saloon. Famous patrons included Abraham Lincoln, John Lennon, Jackie Gleason, and more. In his 1923 poem, "I Was Sitting in Mcsorley's", E.E. Cummings described the pub as "the ale which never lets you grow old."
Joseph Mitchell, best known for his work in The New Yorker, describes the cast of characters who frequented McSorley's.
