Made in the 1950s, this mid-century masterpiece is a striking example of the iconic 'ballerina' design. Inspired by the graceful twirl of a ballerina's skirt in motion, the style is characterised by a central coloured gemstone surrounded by baguette-cut diamonds which are ingeniously arranged to capture a sense of elegance, movement and theatrical flair. This ring features a natural sapphire with a stunning royal-blue colour that is remarkably pure and vivid. Claw-set in an open-back setting which allows light to flood into the stone. It sits above a raised, linear gallery that lends the ring an elegant architectural quality while enabling light to gather beneath the stone to further illuminate it from behind.
Surrounding the central sapphire are tapered baguette-cut diamonds, expertly matched in colour and clarity, with an approximate total weight of 4ct. Graduated in height around the stone, they create a captivating sense of rhythm, movement and sculptural fluidity characteristic of the finest ballerina designs. It would have required a true master jeweller to create such a fine and technically challenging ring and this piece is certainly among the finest we've ever seen.
Excellent: all stones are secure and well set, with no damage to the mount. Professionally polished and carefully inspected by our workshop, ready to wear and enjoy.
