This old steel bit has a central arch or port with a pointed top, the ends of the port protrude below the mouthpiece of the bit.

The bars of the mouthpiece are rectangular in section and cast with ridges on the surface that would contact the horse's tongue.
The fine cheeks of the bit curve backwards, they are quite intricately shaped and have loops for reins and a slobber chain.

There is nail decoration in the shape of a flower on the side of each cheek. There are rein chains and curb hooks at the top.
