Lara Went is a contemporary First Nations Artist, a proud Worimi woman, currently residing on Worimi Country (New South Wales).
The artwork begins with footsteps in the bottom right, tracing a journey across Country, marching, protesting, and celebrating that this land Always Was, Always Will Be. Through the centre, an Elders circle holds the stories, with journey lines linking to younger generations as knowledge, Songlines, and memory flow forward. Above, the stars rest like ancestors watching over. Goanna tracks speak quietly of strength. In the top left, the waterways and coast appear, deeply tied to our identity, where saltwater shapes connection to Country and grounds who we are. The whole piece is a reminder that we are still here, still thriving, and always deadly.
