1910s Black Satin Long Skirt Leaf Applique Edwardian Costume
Very rare and majestic floor length skirt from the early 20th c., this beauty has a high waistline trimmed in black velvet and a voluminous body in shimmering, black satin. Front has two rides of floral, leaf-life applique also in black and there is a band of black velvet trim towards the bottom, while the hem is delineated in horizontal pintucks. Closure is a series of hooks at center rear. No tags.
Fit: Small but please see exact measurements below to ensure fit
Fabric: Looks and feels like a high quality, thick, silk satin
Condition: wearable and incredible for its age and delicacy (the bulk of the fabric is in incredible shape), but AS IS, with the following issues:
-sections around the waistline seam are torn
-parts of the hem of the skirt show tearing
-if you look closely at the applique flowers, some sections show wear around the outer edges
-the velvet band at bottom of skirt needs to reattached in a few spots
-the front of the skirt shows a few, very faint, light gray smudges.
