Edwardian Black Ladies Jacket Velvet Embroidery Fringe Pompoms
Rare, one of a kind, and in incredible condition, this is a ladies jacket c.1900 that is full of charming detail and style that can easily incorporate for the creative, modern dresser! Black wool body is longer in the front than in the rear with the "tails" descending just under the button closure. The high neckline, the hem, and sleeve cuffs are trimmed in ribbed, brownish/black velvet. The front chest is a magnificent display of cords, pompoms and rosettes in black silk braiding, with two, ropes attaching to the rosettes from right to left - all in a variation of black and light brown thread.
Interior is lined in black cotton and there is an inner sash tie to keep it sturdy around your waist. No tags. Fabric feels like a sturdy wool.
Condition - incredible ! No stains or tears or missing bits on the exterior as far as I can tell. The interior lining has some wear and tear as seen in the pic. The velvet rosettes at chest have a bit of wear to the edges and there is a pinhole that must be pointed out in direct light to spot, at right collar bone area.
